On Sunday, Nottingham Forest settled for a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Chris Wood gave Nottingham Forest the lead in the 49th minute before Noni Madueke scored the equaliser. Chelsea had an advantage after the Reds midfielder, James Ward-Prowse, was sent off in the 78th minute.

Chelsea could have secured three points, but Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels made sure that didn’t happen. The 32-year-old made a double save to keep Cole Palmer from scoring for the hosts late in the game.

The Belgium international was praised for his fine display against the Blues. Sporza had a chat with the stopper, where he made a frank admission on what Nuno Espírito Santo’s side were expecting from the clash against Chelsea.

Nottingham Forest finished the tie with nine shots on target, one more than the west London club.

“We had signed for a point in advance, but if you saw the match, we could have won. We haven’t lost 6 games away from home now. We have to gain confidence from that,” he said.

“I was happy to keep the team in the game. With a few good saves it was important to give the team energy.”

“We could have lost, but we could also have won. Perhaps it is a logical draw. We have already started the season well. This gives a lot of confidence.”

Nottingham Forest haven’t lost away from home since April and have one defeat in the league this season. They are currently 10th in the table, trailing fourth placed Chelsea by four points.
