Celtic’s Luis Palma no longer has a prominent role under Brendan Rodgers.
The Honduras international has been limited to 106 minutes of action from four games this season. He hasn’t featured for Celtic since their Scottish League Cup win over Falkirk on September 22nd.
Palma’s restricted role at Celtic has started to cause concerns in his country. Last week, former Celtic star Emilio Izaguirre warned the 24-year-old that he should be worried about his situation.
His compatriot, Andy Nájar, has been speaking about Palma and his quotes are relayed by Diez.
Nájar had a spell in Europe when he was Anderlecht between 2013 and 2020. He returned to Honduras when CD Olimpia signed him at the start of this year. The 31-year-old right-back has now asked the winger to fight for his place at Celtic.
“So, I tell him not to give up, he will return to his level, when he arrived, he showed it, and these are technical decisions.”
The Honduras international fullback struggled with injuries during his time at Anderlecht. He has advised the Celtic attacker on how to regain his place in Brendan Rodgers’ starting lineup.
“Sometimes it’s difficult when you are injured, when that happens you have to work twice as hard because those who are healthy wait,” Nájar explained.
“If he’s not given the minutes, he should continue training in the same way so that they can give him the minutes or he can join another team and leave again, proving that they were wrong. So, keep fighting and here at the national team we are waiting for you.”
Earlier this week, El Heraldo stated Palma wants to stay away from social media and focus on regaining his place at Celtic.
