Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi has spoken to the Italian media about his first impressions with his new club.

The Italian coach exited Brighton & Hove Albion at the end of last season and took up the role of Marseille’s new manager during the summer.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport about his short time in France, the former Brighton boss said he was enjoying the experience and emotions being the manager of the Ligue 1 giants.

Despite the French club’s expectations, De Zerbi revealed he liked to have pressure put on him. There’ll now be hopes of winning the league, something which realistically wasn’t possible with Brighton in the Premier League.

“Like the fans, we can dream. Football is emotions. I’m here to experience them in a stadium that is always full, with pressure and more responsibility,” said the Marseille boss.

Marseille were busy during the last transfer window, bringing in a number of high profile players. Those signings at the moment seem to be paying off for the 45-year-old.

Since De Zebri arrived at Marseille the Provence club have hit the ground running and are currently level on points with Ligue 1 leaders PSG

Marseille and PSG have yet to lose a game and there’ll be great interest when they meet each other next month.
