Ché Adams was one of the players Southampton released at the end of last season. He joined Torino on a free transfer in the summer window.
Prior to that, the Leicester-born Scotland international had spent his entire playing career in England. The striker has starred for the Turin club, scoring two goals and registering two assists from six games.
Former Torino assistant manager Stefano Agresti has analysed the Turin club’s good start to the season in his column for Saturday’s Gazzetta dello Sport. The former Southampton man gets a mention.
Torino are currently leading the table with 11 points, a point ahead of second placed Udinese and third placed Napoli.
Agresti claims Torino’s performances under manager Paolo Vanoli have made them ‘one of the most beautiful teams’ in the league.
“And it becomes a sort of emblem of how important it can be, in modern football, to know how to change. With logic and knowledge, without fear,” he said.
“The Granata club replaced them [Alessandro Buongiorno and Raoul Bellanova] with players less known to the Italian fans, but definitely ready to dive into a difficult league like Serie A: Coco and Adams shone in the first few days, yesterday in Verona (with the Veneti in ten due to Dawidowicz’s expulsion) Maripan and Sosa also made themselves useful.”
“As well as Walukiewicz, who has been in Italy since he was a kid and seems to be approaching his definitive maturity.”
Southampton secured promotion to the Premier League and Adams managed 17 goals and six assists for the Saints last season.
It may be early, but the ex-Southampton attacker could play a part in helping Torino secure a European spot.
