Since signing for Leeds United in June 2022, Rasmus Kristensen has played more games for other clubs than he has for the Whites.
Following the Yorkshire club’s relegation to the Championship, the defender was one of a number of players to leave on loan. He went to AS Roma and had a mixed spell, with the local media at times wondering why he was there, and at other times praising his fighting spirit.
However, the Italian club didn’t make a move to sign him again and instead in July it was off to Eintracht Frankfurt for Leeds United’s right-back-for-hire.
The Bundesliga club have secured him for the rest of the season and then next summer they have a €15m buying option. Leeds United will hope that’s used, and it would even represent a profit for them.
So far the Dane has made four appearances, playing every minute in all of them and being on the winning side three times.
FussballNews took a trip to Eintracht Frankfurt training and spoke to sporting director Timmo Hardung, who shared his happiness with the Leeds United owend player and Arthur Theate, who also arrived in the summer.
Hardung had been speaking about his side being able to change formation during matches, and the pair helping, and is quoted as saying: “The whole team has to work. But with Kristensen and Theate we have two players who can play as central defenders or full-backs at a high quality level. This makes it easier to change the formation.
“It is not our goal to change the formation three or four times in a game. The coaching team recognised this well and drew the right conclusions. But it is not about us being able to show the world that we can switch from a three-man to a four-man chain and back again x number of times. That is just a means to an end.”
