The Colombian national team are watching Wolverhampton Wanderers with interest as they fear losing Yerson Mosquera in the next international break.
That’s according to Deportes RCN, who report that Colombia ‘remains attentive’ to the defender’s situation as he’s set to miss Wolves’ clash with Brighton.
They explain that Colombia appear to be writing a new history for themselves in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, with Néstor Lorenzo refreshing the squad and bringing in potential new stars.
Wolves defender Mosquera is one of them and earned himself a new fanbase in the win over Argentina, in which he not only impressed defensively but also bagged a goal.
However, after playing 90 minutes against Newcastle at the weekend he is set to be absent for the EFL clash against Brighton this week, with Gary O’Neil revealing an injury concern.
“He has some calf problems, and we were a bit worried about him before the Newcastle game, so it would be a big risk to put him on the pitch,” he is quoted as saying.”
This has set off alarm bells at Molineux but ‘the alarms extend’ to the Colombian National Team, who face Bolivia and Chile in qualifying in October.
They would be very sorry to lose the Wolves man after his ‘colossal’ performance against Argentina and it seems they’re all waiting with bated breathe to see if he’ll be available.
