Ben Godfrey’s exit to Atalanta helped Everton financially, with the Toffees picking up some money to help with the ongoing financial battles.
While the move went through quickly in the summer, the same can’t be said for Godfrey’s progress at his new club after leaving Everton.
He hasn’t quite settled in on the pith and there has previously been talk of a premature exit from Atalanta. It was suggested that a move away from Atalanta in January is a possibility.
It now seems as if Atalanta might be ready to show a bit of patience with the defender. The club’s sporting director Tony D’Amico has spoken to Gazzetta dello Sport about the player’s situation.
The Englishman has played only once in Serie A this season and that came in the opening game of the campaign.
He hasn’t featured since and considering how demanding Gian Piero Gasperini’s system can be, it is perhaps wise to give the defender some time.
It’s certainly a change from the football he’ll have been playing under Sean Dyche at Everton.
