Everton signed Jesper Lindstrom from Napoli in the summer and he’s still settling into his adventure with the Toffees.
He arrived after a torrid spell at the Partenopei, where things had not gone according to plan and Lindstrom found himself to be on the sidelines of the project last season.
OkCalciomercato have now looked at why the move to Everton came about and how things were for Lindstrom at Napoli, where he was essentially isolated from the rest of the team because of where he was living.
The outlet say: “Once he arrived in Campania, the player was relegated to a house in Giugliano, about 12km from Naples. He was left alone, without a point of reference to rely on. The situation was made even worse by the language: the boy did not know Italian.”
“The club remained completely at a standstill, underestimating the communication problem. Lindstrom’s entourage would then provide a remote tutor who could teach him the language. The difficulties of settling in were soon compounded by problems in the locker room.”
The outlet state that the instability at managerial level at Napoli also impacted Lindstrom, who was never really a key part of the plans.
Everton fans should be encouraged by his time at Eintracht Frankfurt, where he was regularly amongst the goals and assists.
He is perhaps simply a victim of mismanagement and Toffees fans would hope that something similar doesn’t happen to him at Goodison Park.
