Zeki Amdouni is going through an exciting few weeks, with the Burnley owned player receiving widespread praise since moving to Benfica on loan for the season.
During the international break, Switzerland manager called the 23-year-old “a ray of sunshine” after he found the back of the net during the defeat to Spain.
He’s only played 23 minutes since moving to the Lisbon club, but there’s excitement building around what he can offer this season and potentially into the future beyond that.
Former Benfica player João Alves is quoted by O Jogo as saying: “Amdouni has shown that even though he is not yet fully adapted, especially because he has little training time, he will be a good option in two or three more games. He is a very good player, I know him from Switzerland. When I was at Servette, where I trained, he was in the youth academy, still very young. He is a player who will give a lot to Benfica.”
As part of the loan agreement with Burnley, Benfica have an option to buy Amdouni next summer which could mean that if he has the development expected in Portugal and Switzerland that it won’t be the Clarets benefitting from it.
