Michael Kayode was repeatedly linked with Premier League clubs throughout the summer window.
In July it was reported Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur had made offers for the Fiorentina player, but the situation didn’t seem to heat up from there.
La Viola presumably pushed those offers back to sender, with Brentford also reported as keen during the summer months.
Kayode stayed where he is, and Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade has now spoken about the player’s transfer status during a long press conference.
TMW have picked up his quotes, and report Prade as saying: “He doesn’t even know it but he’s had offers, more than one. If you ask me, I personally even thought about selling him, but the president would never have done it and I didn’t even have the courage to ask him. He’s also an exceptional guy who has significant margins and I don’t think he was ready for such a big step now.
According to the insistence of TMW, the two clubs being referred to by Prade are Aston Villa and Brentford. It’s stated offers came from both those sides but there was simply no desire at a club level to sell Kayode.
The 20-year-old right-back has a Fiorentina contract lasting until June 2028 with an option for a further year, so the Serie A side are well protected in that regard.
