Fresh claims from Argentina state Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain were interested in Tottenham Hotspur’s Cristian Romero in the summer window.

Back in June, earlier claims from Argentina reported the La Liga winners’ desire to hire the 26-year-old.

Los Blancos weren’t alone as Manchester United and PSG also tried to sign the Tottenham star. That’s according to TyC Sports, who make it very clear it’s their own information and say these three clubs wanted to secure his services.

Manchester United, Real Madrid and PSG are all said to have approached Tottenham for the centre-back. Spurs’ management and their coaching staff, led by Ange Postecoglou, didn’t want to part ways with the Argentina international.

It’s claimed the north London club didn’t even put a price tag on Romero because he was ‘not for sale’. The defender is a key player for Postecoglou and has played every minute in the league this season.

The South American’s deal lasts until 2027. TyC Sports suggest a few top clubs could try to sign him next summer if he were to continue to shine for Tottenham.

If Romero were to leave Tottenham, the report states it’ll be to join a top club and for a ‘high price’.

Meanwhile, Manchester United added Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt as the two centre-backs to their squad in the last window.

Given these claims have come out in Argentina, it likely from sources close to the player’s camp.

TyC state the following, which very well be an attempt to fish for a new deal: ‘In this context, and although it may be too early for now considering that it has just started, it remains to be seen whether this is not Cuti’s last season at Tottenham, who knows that if everything continues like this in the next European summer market they will once again receive enquiries about Romero, who would only have two seasons left on his contract.’
