Real Madrid are looking to bolster their fullback positions with Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold and Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies in 2025.
That’s according to Sport, who state Los Blancos president Florentino Pérez has set his sights on the 25-year-old and the Canadian left-back.
Alexander-Arnold and Davies have their deals at Liverpool and Bayern which expire at the end of this season.
Over the past few years, the La Liga winners have signed young players and free agents. The latter includes David Alaba, Antonio Rüdiger and Kylian Mbappé, and they were ‘rewarded with millions’ as a signing on bonus.
Pérez has identified the Liverpool star and the 23-year-old left-back as targets for next summer.
The Champions League winners have followed the two players for a long time. The report adds Real Madrid have been looking at the availability of the duo to sign them for free.
The England international hasn’t yet committed his long-term future to the Reds. If he were to maintain the same position, Sport say Real Madrid will open their doors for him at the end of this season.
Carlo Ancelotti has 32-year-old Dani Carvajal and 33-year-old Lucas Vázquez as the two right-backs at his disposal. Both have their deals expiring in 2025 and Alexander-Arnold could replace one of them next season.
If Alexander-Arnold were to leave Arne Slot’s side for Real Madrid, they would also reward him with a hefty signing on bonus.
One thing worth noting here is that Sport is a Catalan newspaper. Sources closer to Real Madrid have previously stated that whilst Pérez thinks the Liverpool star is a good player, he doesn’t feel his style would suit Los Blancos.
