After spending the summer as a serious target for Sporting CP, at one point it looked like Chiquinho would be staying with Wolves for the current season.
Sporting looked on in worry from Lisbon as the attacker enjoyed a good preseason, the better he did, the happier Gary O’Neil was, then the less likely he’d end up at the Liga Portugal club. They’d wanted a permanent transfer and it was explained at the time that Wolves didn’t want to see another Pedro Goncalves situation roll out in front of them.
Then Chiquinho was loaned to RCD Mallorca at the end of the market. At the time there were reports from both Spain and the UK which stated there’d be no purchase option in the deal.
Then earlier this week, Mallorca Sporting Director Pablo Ortells said publicly that the club do have a buying option. Whether he’s mistaken or not should become clear in the coming months.
Regardless of that, Marca report Chiquinho is already impressing at the Spanish club.
Friday’s edition of the newspaper states the player’s ‘speed and skill’ is attracting attention from onlookers at training. Mallorca are said to be ‘rubbing their hands together’ with joy over their recruit.
His ‘audacity’ in actions is appreciated, and there’s excitement building on the Spanish island.
