On August 23rd, Brighton & Hove Albion allowed Valentín Barco to complete a loan move to Sevilla.
Four days later, Brighton replaced the left-back with Ferdi Kadıoğlu, who arrived at The Amex from Fenerbahce.
The La Liga side presented the Brighton owned player to the local media on Friday and his comments are relayed El Correo de Andalucía.
Barco has revealed he had a chat with his former Brighton teammate, Ansu Fati, before joining Sevilla. The Spaniard, currently at Barcelona, was on loan at the Premier League side last season.
According to El Correo de Andalucía, the fullback’s chat with Fati was ‘key to his arrival’ at the Andalusian club.
“Yes, I spoke with Ansu. I’m ready to play, I did preseason, I played matches. It’ll depend on the coach later, but I’m ready. I really liked the project, it’s similar to my style of play. I spoke with Víctor [Orta] and the coach, and I liked it a lot and it made me decide,” he said.
Sevilla have no option or obligation to make the Brighton owned player’s stay permanent. The South American has insisted that he’s ready to operate anywhere on the left side of the pitch.
“I feel more comfortable on the wing. I’m a full-back, but I can play in any of those positions. Sevilla are a great club and I’m going to give everything to get it back to what it was,” Barco explained.
Sevilla sporting director Víctor Orta has expressed his delight over securing the 20-year-old’s services on a loan deal. The official also has revealed his side have followed the player for a long time.
“We are very, very happy with Barco, he’s a player that the sports management has been following for a long time, he resembles our style of play. He’s a very mature boy, who has played in the Premier League, called up by the Argentine team,” the director said.
