Leander Dendoncker is set to join Anderlecht at some point today as Aston Villa move him on for ‘squad reasons’.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who reports that the midfielder has given his approval to a return to Anderlecht.

A loan deal without an option to buy has been agreed with Aston Villa and the player is travelling to Belgium today.

He is expected to arrive at Anderlecht at some point tonight and undergo a medical on Saturday, with the Belgium transfer window open until the 6th of September.

According to Tavolieri’s information, Dendoncker has been moved out by Aston Villa for ‘squad reasons’. What that means, exactly, isn’t made clear.

It should be noted that reports have stated that Aston Villa need to move players on before they can sign anyone else on deadline day and perhaps this move is an effort towards making that happen.

Either way, Dendoncker is set to fly to Belgium today and is expected to arrive at some point this evening. He will then undergo a medical tomorrow and then completing his exit from Villa Park after Aston Villa sanctioned a departure, allegedly to help out their squad.
