A Nottingham Forest delegation are travelling to Feyenoord to continue talks over striker Santiago Gimenez.
That’s according to 1908.nl, who report that a delegation are on their way to the Netherlands to make a final push for the striker.
They report that despite claims elsewhere, the deal for the Mexican striker is still alive and discussions are ongoing to try and complete the transfer before Saturday.
The negotiations are being done on behalf of Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, who has previously spoken with Gimenez a number of times.
The conversations taking place are happening between Nottingham Forest and the striker, although his father also plays an important role in proceedings.
The delegation heading to Feyenoord will continue to speak to Gimenez and his father today and hope to convince him to travel to England on Thursday to complete the deal. That may be optimistic as there’s not a complete agreement in place with Feyenoord.
1908 say that while Amsterdam base media have been adamant that Gimenez doesn’t want the move, Rotterdam insiders say differently. The Mexican wants to test himself in the Premier League and Nottingham Forest have even gone one step further with the salary they’ve offered to convince him.
They’ve also slightly improve their offer to Feyenoord, increasing the threshold for the bonuses included in the deal.
All three parties remain active on discussions and it remains to be seen if an agreement can be struck, with a delegation heading to the Netherlands to plead Nottingham Forest’s cause.
