Liverpool are confident of closing a deal for Juventus’ Federico Chiesa today after pushing through for the Italian.

That’s according to the journalist Gianluca di Marzio, who reports that the forward is ‘getting ever closer’ to Liverpool.

The Reds, and Juventus, are confident in being able to close the deal at some point today. Both sides are close to a transfer agreement worth €12m plus bonuses.

The two parties are finalising the agreement for the player and the winger could even leave Italy for England today.

It seems negotiations have been steadily progressing between both clubs and the confidence on either side has increased also.

Liverpool have made a surprise move for Chiesa this week having not previously shown any interest in him.

The Italian has been available throughout the summer after reaching an impasse with Juventus over a new deal. His current contract expires next summer and with no new deal in place, Juventus want to sell to ensure he doesn’t leave on a free.

He’s believed to be available for a relatively low cost and Liverpool have seemingly decided it’s a deal worth doing. The matter is now progressing quickly, and he could leave Italy today to fly to Merseyside and finalise things.
