Leeds United’s Maximilian Wöber was on loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach last season.
The Bundesliga side have shown interest in bringing the defender back to the club but have refused to meet Leeds’ asking price.
At the weekend, Sky Deutschland stated Gladbach have held talks with the 26-year-old over the possibility of a late move. It was also said they are yet to open talks with Leeds.
Their immediate focus is selling midfielder Manu Koné for around €20m. Gladbach want to do this quickly in order to invest the money on a left footed centre-back and are looking at the Austria international or VfL Bochum’s Bernardo.
Wöber has made only one appearance for Leeds this season and it came in their EFL Cup loss to Middlesbrough. He was an unused substitute in the first two league games, before Daniel Farke left him out of the squad for the clash against Sheffield Wednesday.
Despite this, the Championship side are still refusing to sanction a loan move and will only let him leave through a sale.
Gladbach’s talks are currently on hold, but Bild say they could buy Wöber if Koné is sold for €20m.
