Club to ‘make counter proposal’ after rejecting Leicester City’s improved bid – Player forcing Foxes move

On Monday, we covered claims from Belgium which stated Leicester won’t give up in their pursuit to sign KRC Genk’s Bilal El Khannouss.

Het Belang van Limburg state the 20-year-old is trying to force things by not training.

Genk are ready to let him leave if they were to receive a €25m bid from Leicester. The report says the Foxes’ last offer was around €20m including bonuses.

The Jupiler Pro League side are ‘disappointed and dissatisfied’ with El Khannouss’ decision to not take part in training.

Het Laatste Nieuws claim the Morocco international has refused to train because he wants to join Steve Cooper’s side.

It’s claimed Leicester have made a third proposal of €20m plus bonuses and this was also deemed ‘inadequate’. The player and his camp believe Genk’s demand is too high, which is why he has decided not to train.

To be fair, even though it’s no excuse for going on strike, they’re almost certainly correct about the fee.

Genk insist that they will determine the price, and are unhappy with the player’s behaviour.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri also states Genk have rejected Leicester’s latest offer of €20m plus €3m bonuses and 10% of a future sale. He adds the Jupiler Pro League side have ‘going to make a counter proposal’, without specifying any further details.

Perhaps it’s best for the Foxes to have other options lined up so Genk aren’t able to extract more than is reasonable.
