Everton’s Neal Maupay is attracted to the idea of joining Marseille, but the Toffees may need to subsidise his wages to make it happen.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who report that the French side like Maupay and would welcome his arrival, but only at the right price.
The newspaper reports that the recent injury to Faris Moumbagna has forced Marseille to look at the market for number nines once again.
Their finances mean that they have to look at the loan market, something which rules out Inter Milan’s Martin Satriano. A list of three alternatives to him has been drawn up and Everton’s Neal Maupay is on it.
Marseille would want ‘advantageous conditions’ from the Blues should they agree to a loan deal, which would perhaps also include Everton paying some of his wages.
That’s something the Toffees are yet to agree to, or show a willingness to accept, particularly as Maupay is now in the final year of his deal at Goodison Park.
Nice have also made enquiries for the striker, but their financial limitations have seemingly made a deal impossible, leaving Marseille as the best option at this moment in time.
