Manchester United have been chasing Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte for much of the summer.

A week ago, L’Equipe journalist Loïc Tanzi reported PSG had left him out of training. Later that day, Uruguay’s El Pais reported the midfielder was close to joining the Red Devils.

Uruguay Fichajes took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to bring the latest on Manchester United’s pursuit of the 23-year-old.

Ugarte didn’t manage to have a prominent role under Luis Enrique last season, he wants to leave the Ligue 1 winners, and his dream is to make a switch to the Premier League.

Uruguay Fichajes say the player has ‘already said yes’ to Manchester United. They add Erik ten Hag’s side and PSG are now looking for a formula to carry out the transfer.

The best option would be a loan deal with a mandatory purchase option and ‘there will be progress in the next few hours’.

Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg also claims this formula is the best way to finalise the transfer. The two clubs have already discussed the details of the deal.

He adds ‘concrete negotiations ongoing’ between Manchester United and PSG over a deal for the Uruguay international.
