Earlier this month, we covered claims from Spain which stated Sergio Reguilón’s agent has confirmed Barcelona’s interest in the Tottenham Hotspur player.

It was also said Barca manager Hansi Flick has given his approval to go ahead and sign the 27-year-old this summer.

Monday’s edition of Sport talks about the Tottenham player as an option for the La Liga side.

Flick currently has Alejandro Balde as the recognised left-back at the Camp Nou. The report says the manager has confidence in him, but still needs another player in the same position.

This is where Reguilón would fit in and the newspaper names the 28-year-old as an option for the Catalan club. He has less than a year left on his deal and Ange Postecoglou has left the fullback out of his plans at Tottenham this season.

Sport claim this makes the former Real Madrid man an ‘affordable market option to fill a last-minute gap’.

Flick’s desire to sign the Spurs defender clashes with Deco. The report claims the Barca sporting director wants to strengthen the left side of the pitch, but his priority is to sign a winger over a left-back.

Deco is looking for a quality winger for an affordable price and would have to get rid of a few players before considering an approach.

Flick and Deco have different views on Reguilón, and this may make it complicated for him to arrive at Barcelona in this window.
