Birmingham City have made a €3m offer for Portimonense defender Filipe Relvas but will need to up their bid to get the 24-year-old.
That’s according to Record, who report that the League One side have made an effort to get the defender as they continue to spend this summer.
The newspaper reports that Birmingham offered €3m for the centre-back but this was immediately rejected by Portimonense, who seemingly want more.
Their asking price isn’t mentioned at this point, but the Portuguese side know that there are several other suitors for the player from Germany, Russia and Turkey.
That means they’re in no rush to sell and may even be hoping that something of an auction can develop to drive up the player’s price.
Either way, Birmingham have made a first bid and could be set to make a second one as they chase their latest signing of a busy summer so far.
The Blues have already spent €15m on new signings to bolster their squad for League One and Relvas may be the latest addition, if they can convince Portimonense to sell.
