Last week, Nottingham Forest allegedly changed the terms of the deal, after verbally reaching an agreement with CA Talleres to sign Ramón Sosa. This didn’t please the Argentine club and they ended negotiations, while the winger went on strike to force a move.
There’s been significant positive developments in the Reds’ efforts to sign the 24-year-old this summer. On Wednesday, Talleres president Andrés Fassi said his side are optimistic of closing Sosa’s sale to Nottingham Forest.
Later that day, the player was pictured at the airport setting off for England. La Voz stated that he hoped to join Nottingham Forest as soon as he arrived in the UK.
The report provides a background into how Nuno Espírito Santo’s side made progress in this operation.
They initially proposed $11m [£8.5m], before raising the written offer to $14m [£10.9m], and this was decisive to ‘unblock’ the negotiations. Talleres hold 70% of Sosa’s rights, while the remaining 30% are with his former club, Tembetary.
Olé say Sosa ‘had a lot to do with the transfer coming to fruition’ as he stopped training to force a move to Nottingham Forest. The player was ‘somewhat upset with the manner’ in which he left Talleres.
Sosa says he was “hurt” with the developments that took place last week, but this should soon be behind him as the report states he’s expected to sign his contract with the Reds later today.
