Loaned out by Tottenham to Marseille after a wasted season at White Hart Lane, Clinton N’Jié could very well never return to London.
Speaking in a press conference on Friday, the former Roma coach discussed what the situation was surrounding the Tottenham loanee was when pressed about it by the journalists present.
Asked if N’Jié would be there next year, he said, relayed by Le Phocéen on Youtube: “I think Tottenham have a new option to bring him back to the club, and the date for that hasn’t passed yet. Until we know what they want to do with him, we can’t say anything.
“We can still logically think that he will be with us next season, that he’ll be under contract next season with Olympique de Marseille.”
Considering they signed Georges-Kévin Nkoudou last year from Marseille, and have very little need for N’Jié, we find it hard to believe Tottenham and Pochettino will want him back at Wembley next year.
Furthermore, his performances with the Ligue 1 club weren’t exactly exceptional.
A prolonged stay in the south of France, it seems, is the likeliest option for him now.
