According to claims in the Italian media Massimo Cellino could soon seal a deal to take over at Brescia. The Leeds United co-owner has been linked with the Serie B side in recent months.

Local newspaper Brescia Oggi have reported current Brescia owner Marco Bonometti has received a proposal from Cellino, and now the Italian is thinking this over. Cellino recently held meetings in Milan with Giuseppe Pirola, who is acting as a middleman in the deal.

It’s been claimed Cellino should have an answer from Bonometti in the coming days over whether his offer has been accepted to purchase Brescia.

Bonometti agreeing to sell Brescia to Cellino is likely to speed the change of ownership at Leeds United. Cellino still has a 50% stake in the Championship side, with recent reports he’s set to sell his remaining shares to fellow Leeds United co-owner Andrea Radrizzani.

With Brescia securing their Serie B status for another season, Cellino can now press ahead with buying the Italian club, and his reign at Leeds United looks to be coming to an end.

Last week it was reported in Italy that Cellino needed to resolve ‘some situations’ at Leeds United before making a move for Brescia.
