Lucas Leiva isn’t afraid of speaking about his future at Liverpool, and potential lack of it.
The midfielder has already told the Brazilian media he has to analyse several things before moving back to his home country, and when interviewed by ESPN Brasil after Liverpool’s game against Middlesbrough, he got straight to the point again.
And unlike Coutinho, who recently claimed ‘speculation is for journalists’, Leiva explained his situation at the club: “I have another year of contract with Liverpool. I’ll probably go on vacation now and have a talk with Jurgen Klopp, with the owners.
“I think that after ten years, it’s not a matter of negotiation, but rather of finding a solution that is good for both parties.”
It’s interesting that he confirmed the length of his contract, because the general consensus had been that Lucas Leiva’s Liverpool contract ends next month, but he clearly believes that’s not the case.
Leiva has been linked to moves to Turkey, Italy and Brazil. Most of the rumours are because of his little game time this season, and the assumption his contract was ending.
