Arsenal ‘have withdrawn’ from the race for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, taking another option off of the table for the Nigerian star.

That’s according to journalist Ciro Troise, who has revealed all on Radio Capri, relayed by Calcio Napoli.

Arsenal had been linked with a potential move for Osimhen this summer amid the general consensus that they need to add a world class striker to Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Osimhen would certainly fit the bill and is seemingly keen to move on from Napoli, who are likewise willing to do a deal for the right price.

Finding a club willing to pay what they want for Osimhen has proven to be a difficult task, though, with long-term admirers Chelsea never stepping up their efforts and PSG refusing to move until they can get players out of the club.

That had potentially paved the way for Arsenal to get him and several reports had suggested that they were planning a major, surprise move to beat any competition.

Troise has poured cold water on that suggestion, insisting Arsenal ‘have withdrawn’ from proceedings and won’t be making any effort.

“Osimhen? Nothing has changed,” he is quoted as saying.

“He reappears every now and then, but the situation is always the same: PSG doesn’t go beyond €70m and hasn’t sold Kolo Muani yet. While Chelsea and Arsenal have withdrawn.”
