Earlier this week there were claims in the Italian media that Aston Villa were considering a move to sign Bryan Cristante.

There was even talk of an offer being made for the AS Roma player, and it was said to be Monchi who was leading the Premier League club’s interest.

That somewhat alarmed Roma fans, with Cristante a much loved player at the club. The 29-year-old has been at Roma since 2018, initially moving from Atalanta on loan, and has made more than 200 appearances for them.

Last season he made 52 appearances across central midfield, defensive midfield and even centre back, being a hugely important part of the team. He even managed to contribute four goals and five assists.

Manager and club legend Daniele De Rossi has said he’d like 11 Cristantes on the pitch for Roma, such is his appreciation of the effort the player puts in.

SiamoLaRoma were panicked enough by the Aston Villa claims to go digging, potentially via Monchi contacts from his time at the Serie A side, and they’ve been told it’s all nonsense.

Aston Villa have absolutely no plans to move for Bryan Cristante and they’re well stocked in that area of the pitch.
