At the weekend, we covered claims from French journalist Santi Aouna, which stated Noussair Mazraoui was on the verge of signing for Manchester United.
It was even claimed a medical had been booked in for Tuesday ‘if nothing changes’, and that Bayern Munich had ‘authorised’ the defender to join the Premier League club.
Well, here we are on Tuesday and nothing appears to have happened. If anything, the transfer looks to be going backwards rather than charging forwards.
Sky Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg simply reports Manchester United are in ‘concrete’ negotiations for Mazraoui with a transfer fee, including bonuses, expected to be around €25m.
Still, before that, Aaron Wan-Bissaka needs to move to West Ham United or elsewhere.
Manchester United have also been linked with Matthijs de Ligt, and Plettenberg says the Red Devils offer is ‘still not sufficient’ enough for that transfer to move forward.
According to the journalist, Bayern Munich continue to ask for €50m plus bonuses, which feels ambitious.
Reading between the lines it doesn’t appear like anything much has happened on either of these two deals over the past week, just a lot of claims trying to get ahead of others.
