Villarreal appear close to giving up on signing Yerson Mosquera from Wolverhampton Wanderers, with the Spanish side believing he is in Gary O’Neil’s plans for next season.
That’s according to Onda Cero, who say the defender is ‘almost ruled out’ by Villarreal after being on loan with them last season.
Mosquera spent the second half of last season on loan with the Spanish side after returning to Wolves in January from a loan with Cincinnati.
They’ve been keen on a permanent deal for him throughout this summer and he’s made it clear he would like to make the switch if the possibility is there, believing that his chances are better with Villarreal than Wolves.
Onda Cero, though, Villarreal are close to giving up on the defender despite their initial plan having been to sign him.
They still need a defender and had planned to push for Mosquera but that is ‘almost ruled out’ now because Wolves are ‘counting on him’ for this season.
Perhaps that is because of the departure of Max Kilman, who has left to join West Ham and is yet to be replaced. That potentially gives Mosquera his chance and it seems Villarreal are giving up because of it.
