According to a claim in the Turkish media, Crystal Palace and Leeds United tried made offers to take Gabriel Sara from Norwich City this summer.

The Brazilian midfielder signed for Galatasaray yesterday for a fee in the region of £15m after weeks of speculation over his future.

Haber Sarikirmizi report both Crystal Palace and Leeds United were in the race to sign Sara, but the player was only tempted by a move to Galatasaray. The Turkish champions will be in the group stages of the Champions League next season, and this was a big factor in his decision to head to Istanbul.

It’s claimed the two English clubs arrived with offers to sign the 25-year-old, but these were rejected. We recently covered reports from the Turkish press that Leeds United were showing an interest in Sara and were lining up a bid for him.

Sara has now joined up with his Galatasaray teammates and is currently in pre-season training.

He made 50 appearances for Norwich City last season, scoring 14 goals. Sara is contracted to the Super Lig club until June 2029.
