On July 22nd, journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported Everton and Leicester City would have no problem matching Arthur Melo’s Juventus salary of €4m per year, which can rise to €9m with bonuses.
Last season, the 27-year-old was on loan at Fiorentina, who decided against making his stay permanent. He returned to the Turin club but his future is likely to be away from them.
Juve technical director Cristiano Giuntoli is working on getting rid of players who aren’t part of Motta’s plans. Tuttosport say Arthur is included in this list, and Everton and Leicester are mentioned as interested parties.
The former Barcelona man was on loan at Liverpool during the 2022/23 season and failed to impress, he then did much better at Fiorentina last season but they can’t afford his wages on a permanent move.
It’s claimed the Brazilian has been in ‘ongoing discussions’ with Everton and the Foxes, to find out if it’s possible for him to return to the Premier League in this window. It’s not made clear whether the talks are underway for loan or a permanent transfer.
Juve are looking to get rid of Arthur in the coming weeks, and Everton and Leicester are being presented the opportunity to sign him.
