Brighton and Hove Albion are yet to decide what to do with Malick Yalcouyé as he’s impressed during pre-season in Japan.

That’s according to Fotboll Direkt, who report that the midfielder, signed from IFK Göteborg this summer, has made a positive early impression at his new club.

They explain that the midfielder, who according to their information Brighton paid €6m plus bonuses for this summer, has gotten off to a positive start with the Seagulls with two solid performances during pre-season training in Japan.

Plans are being made for the 18-year-old’s future, but Fotboll Direkt have been told by ‘local English journalists’ that Brighton are yet to decide on those plans.

That’s because Yalcouyé ‘had made a very good first impression on management’ and now they are considering whether the player should be loaned out permanently or should compete for a place in Brighton’s squad this season.

The decision is likely to rest on the other options in the squad and potential signing Diego Gómez, who is on the verge of a move from Inter Miami.

There have been indications that he could stay in the USA short-term, which would open up a space for Yalcouyé and perhaps lead to Brighton keeping hold of him.

Fotboll Direkt also report that IFK Göteborg’s plans have been changed thanks to the success they’ve enjoyed with Yalcouyé this summer.

He’s their biggest sale ever and it seems that has prompted them to pick up another six talents from ASEC Mimosas in the Ivory Coast, handing them trials in the search of the next talent.

They’re clearly hoping for a similar success in future, and the prospect of sealing another big future sale.
