At the weekend, we covered claims from Spain which claimed Sergi Roberto is seduced by offers made by both Aston Villa and West Ham United.

The 32-year-old’s future needs sorting out soon as he’s been without a club since his deal at Barcelona expired on June 30th. They want to extend his contract, but will only be able to do so if there’s a reduction in their wage bill.

Sport provide the latest on his future, and cover interest from Aston Villa and West Ham.

The La Liga side had agreed a deal with Roberto when Xavi Hernández was in charge at the Camp Nou. The plan was to make his renewal official once the club sorted out their finances.

The Spaniard can operate as a right-back or midfielder, and his situation has changed after Hansi Flick’s arrival. He was still willing to wait, but that’s no longer the case now as Sport claim the player rules out the option of staying at Barca.

Roberto has received interesting proposals, including those from Aston Villa and West Ham.

Sport say he’s studying offers and the one made by Ajax stands out. At the same time, he likes the Premier League, where Aston Villa are ‘very interested’ in securing his services.

It’s claimed Aston Villa are pressing and Unai Emery ‘would be very close to convincing’ his compatriot to arrive at Villa Park.
