Yesterday, we covered claims from Gianluca di Marzio about Napoli’s interest in Brighton & Hove Albion’s Billy Gilmour and the Italian journalist had reported that the Partenopei would make another offer.
This came after Napoli had made an initial offer for the midfielder and that was confirmed by La Gazzetta dello Sport to be at £8million, which is around €9.5 million. This was rejected by the Seagulls.
But this isn’t the end of the saga and Napoli are back on the negotiating table again. Il Mattino (as relayed by AreaNapoli) have reported today that the bid to Brighton has increased to €10m, which is only around €500k more than the initial offer.
The former Italian champions are likely to earn from the sales of Gianluca Gaetano and Jens Cajuste and that will help them sign the former Chelsea midfielder, states the report.
Cajuste is a midfield option that they signed last summer and things haven’t quite worked out, with club sporting director Giovanni Manna seeing the Brighton player as a new option to shore up the midfield.
