Thiago Motta’s latest comments on Federico Chiesa have been seen as a hint the player will be leaving this summer, after reports claiming he’s ‘close to Tottenham’.

Calciomercato cover the situation around the forward today and how Motta’s latest comments on the matter suggest the player will be leaving Juventus.

CM explain that while Chiesa is back and has made himself available to Juventus, awaiting an interview with the club about his future, the reality is that he is as far away from the Italian side as he’s ever been.

Motta’s latest comments on the matter are seen as a hint of that fact, with him quoted as saying “He’s a Juventus player at the moment, we’ll see” when asked about the player.

There is, though, only one direction in which the story can go as far as CM are concerned and that is a ‘definitive separation’.

The growing belief is that the two parties, Chiesa and Juventus, are too far apart at this moment in time and given that they’ve both insisted they won’t leave each other hurt, the only route is a transfer away.

When that will happen remains to be seen and it’s likely to only progress once the major players at the club have returned to Turin following pre-season.

Either way, the current situation is that either Chiesa renews his contract or leaves and there are not currently any talks regarding a renewal.

That should be of interest to Tottenham, whose opportunity to get the player appears to be getting ever nearer.

A report earlier today stated that they were ‘close to’ getting the Italian and Motta’s latest comments have further added to the idea Chiesa is leaving, potentially boosting Tottenham’s chances of making that deal happen.
