Southampton are ‘in pole position’ to sign Lamine Camara, reports French journalist Sebastien Dennis on Thursday afternoon.
He describes the attacking midfielder as one of the revelations of Ligue 1 last season, and reports a €15m offer from Al Qadsiah.
Camara isn’t interested in the Saudi Arabia club, currently prioritising a move to the Premier League. However, at this stage, Southampton haven’t offered enough to please FC Metz.
L’Equipe are also covering the situation, and they put Al Qadsiah’s offer at €16m. That amount, according to the French newspaper, is ‘considerably higher’ than anything Southampton have out on the table.
However, in a similar theme to Denis, they say the 20-year-old isn’t keen and is instead looking towards English football.
Southampton are currently trying to find a solution which doesn’t simply involve them paying whatever FC Metz are asking for.
Camara may have been a Ligue 1 revelation last season but his team were still relegated so Southampton will feel that should be reflected in the price.
