PSV Eindhoven see Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg as the final piece of their puzzle but could now fae competition from VfB Stuttgart.
That’s according to Eindhovens Dagblad, who maintain the Dutch side are willing to wait to try and get the centre-back.
The newspaper explains that at the moment it seems Van den Berg will only be allowed to leave Liverpool for a sum of €20m this summer.
That’s not a figure PSV are willing to pay but they would be willing to put a ‘hefty offer’ on the table to get the Dutchman. That doesn’t mean he’ll end up at PSV, because Stuttgart are also interested in him.
The Dutch side, though, see Van den Berg as the final piece of the puzzle in their planning for next season. If they were to sign him, they would consider the squad ‘almost complete’ unless any players were to leave.
They believe any pursuit could be drawn out, though, and that it wouldn’t be strange for a deal to end up taking place in late August.
It all depends on Liverpool, who it seems want to take a closer look at Van den Berg first and will be more than happy to let this play across the summer.
