Everton are continuing to pursue a deal for Hellas Verona defender Jackson Tchatchoua after seeing an initial €8m bid rejected.
That’s according to Corriere di Verona, who report that Everton are ‘pressing’ for the full-back and want to get a deal done.
The newspaper explains that the Toffees are more than keen on Tchatchoua, who only joined Hellas Verona on a permanent basis this summer for €2m after a successful loan spell from Charleroi last season.
That received a negative response from Verona, though, who have now set the price at €10m plus bonuses instead.
That does mean there is not a major difference between the two parties at this moment in time and Everton are continuing to insist on reaching an agreement.
Corriere di Verona say that remains possible and the negotiations continue, although the Toffees might have to contend with concrete interest from Rennes in France too.
They’re also keeping a close eye on the defender and so Everton may want to make the small step to match Verona’s demands and get a deal done before they have to truly contend with them.
