On Monday, journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported Newcastle United have ‘returned heavily’ for AC Milan’s Malick Thiaw. He also stated new Magpies director Paul Mitchell is leading his side’s pursuit of the defender.
Di Marzio made no mention of the Serie A side’s demands to sell the 22-year-old.
Calciomercato.it provide more on this matter and on Newcastle’s interest in the centre-back.
The Rossoneri are focusing on raising funds through selling some of their players and they could receive ‘important money’ by selling the German and Ismaël Bennacer.
Newcastle are aware of the fee needed to sign him. After evaluating the situation for days, the website believes the time may have come for Newcastle to ‘step forward’ to sign the player. This suggests their offer could be on the way.
Speaking to Sky Italia, relayed by Radio Rossonera, journalist Manuele Baiocchini has also talked about Newcastle’s interest in Thiaw.
“There is another part of the market that can also include exits. And then maybe another transfer will be made, perhaps of a player that Newcastle like, Malick Thiaw, who can bring new money into Milan’s coffers to return to the market with more force. He’s valued at around €50m,” Baiocchini said.
There’s a difference of €15-20m in the figures quoted by Calciomercato.it and Baiocchini, and that makes it difficult to understand Thiaw’s actual valuation.
