Celtic are edging closer towards completing the signing of Kasper Schmeichel as he’s set to join Brendan Rodgers’ side on a free transfer this summer.
The goalkeeper was expected to undergo his medical with Celtic last weekend, but that didn’t happen. Tipsbladet earlier reported that he was scheduled to carry out medical tests in a clinic in Italy on Tuesday.
A fresh report from Tipsbladet now states the deal to take the 37-year-old to Celtic is well on track and he has already cleared the medical tests with the Bhoys.
Last season, Schmeichel was at Anderlecht and his deal with them expired on June 30th. This allowed him to negotiate with other clubs, before deciding to join Celtic.
The report states the stopper has agreed a one-year deal with the Scottish champions, with an option for another year. They add Celtic should announce his arrival soon as the Dane is set to meet his new teammates in the United States later today.
Schmeichel previously played under Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City and the pair will soon reunite at Celtic.
