Three days ago, Troy Parrott left Tottenham Hotspur and completed a permanent move to AZ Alkmaar.
At the weekend, the striker stated that he believes he’s chosen the perfect club in the Eredivisie side.
The Republic of Ireland international was at the north London club for seven years and made only four appearances for their senior team. Tottenham sent him out on loan over the last four years before parting ways with him permanently this summer.
Voetbal International had a chat with the 22-year-old, where he revealed that he had several options to continue in England. The former Tottenham man had also attracted interest from other Dutch clubs before sealing a move to AZ Alkmaar.
“There was more interest, from England but also from the Netherlands. I think AZ suits me in terms of playing style. Just like Excelsior, but this is a level higher.”
Last season, the frontman was on loan at Excelsior Rotterdam, who were relegated from the Dutch top flight. He scored 17 goals and registered five assists from 32 games for them.
AZ Alkmaar technical director Max Huiberts also spoke VI, and explained that his side have followed the player for a long time. The Eredivisie side’s official has backed Parrott to succeed at the club.
“He has shown in the Eredivisie that he can easily score goals. We have followed him for a long time and with the information we have, we are convinced that his qualities are a good fit for AZ. With the arrival of Troy we have again covered the striker position with many good options,” Huiberts explained.
