On June 12th, Le10 Sport reported Chelsea have accelerated their efforts to overcome Arsenal in the race to sign Stade Rennais’ Désiré Doué.
Fast forward to July and L’Equipe backs up Arsenal and Chelsea’s interest in the 19-year-old, who is likely to leave this summer.
The winger managed four goals and six assists from 42 games last season. The statistics are not that impressive, but his qualities and potential has attracted the attention of top clubs, including Arsenal and Chelsea.
The France U23 international’s deal lasts until 2026, but his club are aware that they would not be able to retain him beyond this summer. The report states Stade Rennais are requesting over €60m to part ways with him.
Vincent Kompany’s side have become the first club to make an offer for Doué, who is also wanted by Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
Stade Rennais seem to be waiting for other interested parties like Arsenal and Chelsea to fight with Bayern for Doué’s signature. The Premier League duo and PSG would have to act fast because Bayern have already tabled a bid.
