On Wednesday, journalist Gianluigi Longari stated Al-Ittihad have a dream of signing Aston Villa’s Moussa Diaby this summer.
Earlier today, Foot Mercato reported the Saudi Arabian club will do everything they can to try and take the 25-year-old away from Aston Villa.
Longari again took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide new updates on this case, which won’t please Aston Villa fans.
Al-Ittihad are insisting on signing the forward and they have made progress in their pursuit. Longari claims the Middle Eastern side have a deal agreed in principle with the player over personal terms.
The Sportitalia journalist hasn’t provided any updates on the details of the agreement. He states that once Al-Ittihad receives the France international’s approval, ‘negotiations should begin’ with the Premier League side.
Diaby joined Aston Villa from Bayer Leverkusen in July 2023 for a club-record fee and signed a deal until 2028. He rejected an approach from Al-Nassr to join Unai Emery’s side, but could leave Villa Park for Al-Ittihad in this window.
The Frenchman scored 10 goals and registered nine assists from 54 games for Aston Villa last season.
