New Brighton and Hove Albion manager Fabian Hürzeler has insisted he is ready for the big step up to the Premier League club.
The German boss has been speaking to BILD as he prepares for a busy summer following his move from St. Pauli.
Hürzeler was officially confirmed as Roberto de Zerbi’s replacement at the end of last month after the Italian and Brighton surprisingly decided to part ways this summer.
Protracted negotiations between St. Pauli and Brighton meant his arrival in England was somewhat delayed, with the German side determined to ensure the Seagulls paid a big fee for their manager, which they eventually agreed to.
Eyebrows have certainly been raised about the decision to appoint the 31-year-old, whose record to date is 55 games in charge of St. Pauli.
All eyes are on whether he will be able to manage the gigantic step up from the 2. Bundesliga to the Premier League. He, though, insists he is prepared and has never held so many conversations to ensure that he is.
“I had visions and goals early in life. That definitely meant working in the Premier League at some point,” he said.
“I’m surprised that it’s happening now. I know this is something very special. Brighton is a very big task for which I and my team are preparing intensively. If we master this, I will come very close to my dream.
“I watched a lot of Brighton games from last season. In general, I’m extremely interested in the Premier League.
“Otherwise, I have rarely had as many conversations as I have in the last few weeks: with those responsible, the staff, the players, former professionals, coaches who worked in Brighton. It’s getting to know each other through a lot of theory.”
