Lyanco’s permanent departure from Southampton is expected to be made official very soon.
According to Globo Esporte, Atlético-MG are close to announcing the centre-back’s arrival on a long term contract.
It’s said that following an agreement between the clubs, the Southampton defender is landing in Belo Horizonte at the start of this week to sign with his new side.
There are some performance goals to be reached, and in case they are, then there’ll be another €1.5m payment for 25% more. That would take it to 75%, and all it essentially means is that Southampton get 25% from a future transfer, or 50% if those goals aren’t reached.
Lyanco is now set to have his medical with Atlético, and is expected to sign a contract until the end of 2028.
The defender hasn’t played for Southampton for over an year now, as he spent the last season on loan at Al-Gharafa SC. Reports from Brazil say the Qatari side wanted to sign the centre-back on a permanent deal, but it was him who decided it’s time to move back to his home country.
