Tottenham Hotspur have made an initial approach over signing Real Madrid’s Brahim Díaz in the summer window, according to Foot Mercato.
The forward clocked in over 2,000 minutes from 44 games last season, managing 12 goals and nine assists.
Despite Joselu’s exit, the competition in Los Blancos’ attack next season will increase with the arrivals of Kylian Mbappé and Endrick. Díaz’s game time could be restricted, and both Tottenham and AS Roma have made attempts to try to sign him.
It’s claimed the two sides have made offers to Real Madrid. The details of their proposals aren’t mentioned, but they’ve been turned down by Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
That could spread the cost of a purchase and also allow them to try the player first. With a long contract, Madrid would be relatively well protected.
It’s very unlikely Roma wanted a permanent deal, so that makes the loan idea likelier.
Díaz is considered as an important player for the manager and the Champions League winners. Ancelotti doesn’t want to part ways with the Morocco international this summer.
Therefore, Tottenham and Roma have to table an ‘irrefutable offer’ to sign Díaz. His deal lasts until 2027 and Transfermarkt values him at €40m, and the interested parties would probably have to pay a fee higher than that to convince Real Madrid.
Díaz is happy with the La Liga side, and Tottenham and Roma will also have to convince him to stand a chance to acquire his signature.
