Three days later, we covered claims from Germany that the midfielder could leave in the summer window or as a free agent when his deal expires in 2025. It was also stated the 29-year-old only wants to join one of five clubs, and Liverpool and Barcelona are among them.
Monday’s edition of Sport mentions the Reds when discussing the La Liga side’s pursuit of the Germany international.
The German media have said Bayern have no intention of renewing his contract and they would prefer to sell the player for €30m this summer. This is relayed by Sport, who add the price quoted is attractive for other important clubs like Liverpool.
It’s claimed Kimmich is of interest to a few Premier League sides, and among these, the Reds ‘may have taken the lead’ to secure his services.
There’s no mention or indication on why Liverpool would have managed to get ahead of others. Sport add Arne Slot’s side and other English clubs will offer a higher salary than Barca.
The Blaugrana will rely on Flick to convince Kimmich, but whether that would be enough to beat Liverpool and others remains to be seen.
