Paris Saint Germain have refused a first offer from Manchester United for midfielder Manuel Ugarte but are open to negotiations for him.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who say Manchester United have made their move and presented an offer to PSG for the Uruguayan.
The newspaper explains that it is currently unclear if Ugarte will be remaining at PSG this summer after starting the season as a regular but falling out of favour under Luis Enrique.
They’ve made an unspecified bid for the midfielder, which was deemed insufficient by PSG and rejected out of hand. However, that is not a definitive end to negotiations.
The French side have made it clear that they are not ‘closed to negotiations’, essentially inviting Manchester United to make a new bid and try to get a deal over the line.
Erik ten Hag’s side are not the only interested party, with another English club and a German side also having showed interest in Ugarte this summer.
It is Manchester United who have made the first, official bid, though, putting them at the front of the queue, even if PSG did reject it for the time being.
